(Fort Wayne, IN – May 1, 2017) – Over the next two weeks, Tippmann Construction is proudly participating in two major National Safety Initiatives. National Safety Week is May 1-5, 2017, followed by National Safety Stand-Down Week May 8-12, 2017 focused on preventing falls in construction. Safety has always been the top priority on our construction job sites, and every one of our active projects will participate in these two national weeks of safety awareness and prevention.
The Mission of Safety Week is to collectively raise the awareness of the construction industry’s continuing commitment to eliminating worker injury, and to clearly communicate its dedication to a shared culture of care and concern and the belief that every week must be Safety Week.
A Safety Stand-Down is a voluntary event for employers to talk directly to employees about safety. Any workplace can hold a stand-down by taking a break to focus on “Fall Hazards” and reinforcing the importance of “Fall Prevention”. It’s an opportunity for employers to have a conversation with employees about hazards, protective methods, and the company’s safety policies and goals. It can also be an opportunity for employees to talk to management about fall hazards they see.
Events taking place during these two weeks include:
- toolbox talks focused on the mission of each week, allowing workers to discuss safety issues
- recognition of employees for using good safety practices
- on-site lunches allowing for additional communication about the purpose of each week
- full team signing of commitment banners, signifying the entire job site’s dedication to a safe project
