Following
a successful distribution project with Tippmann
Group in Macon, Georgia, Sara Lee Foods continued
their efforts to redefine their distribution
network, this time in the Fort Worth, Texas
market. That’s when an opportunity near
their State Fair Foods plant in Haltom City
became obvious. There was vacant land adjacent
to that facility, however it was in three
parcels, with three different owners.
Tippmann Group’s land
acquisition and developmental resources went
to work, and soon facilitated the purchase
of the land, while also working closely with
Haltom City officials to replat the land,
and gather all of the approvals necessary
to start building.
With such an ideal location,
being next door to a production plant, Sara
Lee had Tippmann’s material handling
team design an elevated conveyor system and
tunnel attaching the new distribution facility
to the plant.
When it was complete, the
new 182,000 square foot facility featured
nearly 90,000 square feet of freezer space,
42,000 square feet of cooler storage space,
a 25,000 square foot temperature controlled
dock, areas for palletizing, shrink wrapping,
RFID and a one-story office.
This is one of four Sara Lee
projects completed by Tippmann Group within
2 years.
