The Lipari family began distributing food
in Michigan in the 1950’s, and over
the course of the next several decades, Lipari
Foods saw tremendous growth. That growth led
to the need for a new distribution facility
in 2006.
Lipari
Foods continues to be a family-owned and operated
company, so there was a natural fit between
Lipari and Tippmann Group (also a family-owned
company) as the design/builder of the new
distribution facility.
Availability
of land in the Detroit area is somewhat limited,
so one of the challenges of this project was
the unique site configuration. The design
team at Tippmann Group came up with a plan
that best utilized the long, narrow site,
allowing for 240,000 square feet of warehouse
and office space to be built.
With
the variety of deli, bakery, foodservice and
retail products offered by Lipari, the temperature-controlled
warehouse had to be extremely flexible. The
new facility offers freezer, cooler and dry
storage areas, in order to accommodate the
unique temperature requirements of all of
their products.
