After
working with Tippmann Group to build a refrigerated
warehouse attached to its largest manufacturing
plant in 1995, FreshMark, a Canton, Ohio meat
processor, experienced such extensive growth
that the company needed to consider expansion.
Pleased with Tippmann's work on that previous
project, Freshmark asked them for an update
of the extensive distribution study that had
led to the decision to build.
When
Tippmann's study had been thoroughly revised
and three options for expansion presented,
FreshMark chose to build a 30,000 square foot
addition to their existing plant and warehouse.
This option produced substantial savings on
operational costs by allowing greater efficiencies
in management, refrigeration and electrical
systems, and eliminating the need to move
product between buildings.
Among
the noteworthy features of FreshMark's new
facility are an all-galvanized structural
steel racking system, stainless steel interior
panels for greater longevity, and several
rooms that are convertible from freezers to
coolers for optimal use of space. Although
challenged by the need to move material throughout
construction and continue existing operations,
Tippmann's Fast-Track construction made it
possible to complete the warehouse addition
in less than five months.
