Caito Foods has been one of the leading processors
in the produce industry since being founded
in 1965. Recent growth within their company
gave them a need for more distribution space
on their Indianapolis campus. Their existing
building, which was housing both processing
and distribution, wasn’t designed for
maximum efficiency.
Caito
owned a significant piece of land adjacent
to their existing site, and decided to build
a separate distribution facility on the property.
Tippmann Group was chosen to design and build
their new facility for a variety of reasons.
Ownership at Caito Foods recognized Tippmann’s
strong history of experience with building
facilities for the produce industry as a primary
factor in their decision. Caito also had an
agressive timeline that needed to be met for
the opening of the new facility, and Tippmann
Group was able to meet that timeline.
The
new 122,000 square foot distribution center
drastically increased Caito’s banana
ripening capabilities with the addition of
10 banana ripening rooms, and the flow-through
design with docks on both sides of the facility
have improved the shipping and receiving process.
