Based
in Indianapolis, the Partnership program is a unique distribution
process that offers better service to retailers and wholesalers
through cost-effective consolidated replenishment shipments.
The program represents a progressive approach to grocery
distribution, providing significant benefits to all participating
companies.
Distribution
logistics for the program are expertly executed by Interstate
Warehousing, where more than 4,000 products are consolidated
for more than 140 manufacturers, retailers and wholesalers
in a large state-of-the-art warehouse.
Here's
How the Program Works:
The
Partnership program restructures the traditional flow of
goods and information to meet the needs of retailers and
wholesalers - those closest to the consumer. Interstate
Warehousing has designed the program to eliminate the "buy
and store" inventory practice in favor of a "sort
and ship" replenishment strategy.
Under
the program, multiple manufacturers place product with Interstate
Warehousing, which provides highly sophisticated inventory
management and control, replenishment calculations and suggested
replenishment orders. Retailers and wholesalers then take
advantage of continuous replenishment from manufacturer-owned
inventory stored in the Partnership distribution center.
Unlike
traditional pool consolidation programs - each one adding
cost - the Partnership program ensures that retailers always
receive a full truckload. Pre-set delivery appointments
eliminate mileage penalties and scheduling conflicts. In
addition, Partnership's same-day or next-day delivery means
the end of multiple delivery days or delays common with
standard arrangements.
Interstate
Warehousing provides retailers and wholesalers the ability
to send shipping orders electronically, thereby streamlining
the ordering process. Through EDI or automated emailing,
manufacturers can choose to receive transaction and inventory-data.
Interstate's EDI module is a full-featured translator that
can be customized for each trading partner. Additionally,
the EDI module supports multiple transactions and conforms
to the standards as set forth by the Uniform Code Council
(UCC) and the Electronic Data Interchange Association (EDIA)
for WINS versions 3.0 and higher.
